hey, Aaron, I loved your page! what a cute baby picture. I also loved the picture of you flexing -- you looked pretty hot. (was that your brother you were with? or half-brother? you look similar, but different). I saw that your girlfriend's name is also Sarah. She's a lucky girl. Pretty lucky to get a guy like you, anyway! I've never met someone like you-- it sounds like you've done a lot of crazy things! You shouldn't worry if some people get uptight about things like that squirrel story. I think it is hilarious and you have to be yourself, no matter what. keep it up! luv, Sarah

Who is this Sarah Graham character that thinks you and I are related Parsons? I mean, I know I am passing on my culture, but I never though I'd get confused with a Jewish kid from Rangely, Colorado. Anyway, the site is great!

Yes, such a confusion is hard to swallow. I am suspicious that it is a prank posting by one of the other Sarah's in my life. So that narrows it down to like 7.

Hey dude ! Freaky posts, I just came here from Seti 'cos I have a question. Is that allowed? Anyway, I noticed that Seti unit processing times are long. I mean really long. Does that mean that a lot of Seti users are so busy Gaming, FTP'ing and peer to peer file swapping( or viewing "Those" kind of movies )that their High Spec PC's are choked? Or are they really still using PII's, like Mat Lebowski? LOL Hi from the United Kingdom ;-) Regards Pete.

For large Fast Fourier Transforms (which is what your screensaver is doing), CPU's cannot hold all the numbers they need in cache, so the entire process becomes dominated by memory bandwith, which has not been increasing as quickly as processor speed has. However, workunit processing time has been decreasing over time because of these new-fangled high-spec PC's.

While wasting away my work day, an idea (an admittedly dim one) flashed across my generally unused cerebral expanse. Whatever happened to that squat hick from Colorado with whom I used to drink? Having naught but the most vague memories of said hick's name (on account of the drinking), I called upon google, seeking its astoundingly vast knowledge of the universe. Disappointed that google does not indeed read my mind (RIPOFF!), I was forced to trek the misfiring synapses (drinking) of my college memories. Having painfully retraced these memories, I came upon a name: Aaron Parsons! Ah yes, a last name befitting the vertically parsed. The superfluousness of his character mimeographed in the superfluousness of the A's and On's. Wondrous! But was I correct? And so I searched for said bumpkin, only to have google speak (SPEAK!) to me, presenting me with a dilemma only a philosopher or Zen priest could have loved: "Do you mean Alan Parsons?" I'm still not sure if I MEAN Alan Parsons, or if I mean anything at all, but I do know that I found my friend.

Just wanted to say thank you. My son is in the Marines and he wrote home asking for the words to the song I used to sing to him when he was little. I was so amazed at how much of the song he remembered. However, I only knew one verse. This site allowed me to get the rest of the verses. Thanks so much. The song was "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot". Sincerely, Martha Cruz

HI Aaron, From cruising a bit of you guest book, I would say "sarah" must be common name in your life. I'm just a folk song fan who recently dusted off my guitar. Many of the songs I used to sing have made their way to your page and I just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for posting them. Love having some of the "modern" golden oldies available as well----*wastin' away in Maragritaville......* Great work!

Hi. I just came across your site because I was looking for directions to Briones Regional Park. All the more likely sites that google retrieved with such information were down, so I nosed arund on your web page and was truly touched by the line about people from tiny towns in the middle of deserts seldom leaving. Being from a not-as-tiny town in a desert not too far (in western state terms) from Rangely, I can definitely relate. Born and raised in Farmington, New Mexico, I've called Northern California home for the past eight years. Now I live in San Francisco, and it warms my heart just a little to know that someone else in the general vicinity has an inkling of what it feels like to have left such a place as that and come to such a place as this.

Also working on the harmony for Detachable Yellow Love Song (can we somehow incorporate a 9 chord?). I'll let you know. When I get a site you better link to it. Any day now.

My genius friend Brock just realized that an anagram for "Aaron Parsons" is "On Saras: A Porn." That pretty much describes Mr. Parsons, I think. (That Brock, dreamy and smart...)

Brock, a former roommate of mine, has been party to several such conversations.

I apologize for the gushiness of Ms. Grahm (and her unfortunately spelled surname), who, in her rush to publish my thoughts, neglected to append a deprecating line about yours truly (a trademark of mine in writing) and instead used Brock-aggrandizing prose (a trademark of mine in living). Let us amend... Replace "genius" with "apparently bored," and "dreamy and smart" with "will he ever shut up?" and I think she has it. Also, I would like to inform Mr. Parsons that I recently returned from Paris. Per the social decorum advocated by Gwar in the band's landmark "Sexecutioner"... I pulled down my pants.

Whew! Getting a lot of posts here.
Firstly, these songs don't print well, and I'm considering making printable versions, but I'm still debating it because: A. I like people revisiting my site and playing guitar in front of the computer and B. I'm worried about providing printable possibly copyrighted material (my mom and I worked out these songs by ear, but the songs are copyrighted).

Secondly, I've had requests for a lot of songs I don't have access to, but I have written up 'Hotel California' and will post it soon.

Thirdly, my mom lives in Rangely, Colorado, as did I for most of my life. Her name is Shirley Parsons.

Let me be the first to congratulate (via electronic media) Mr. Aaron Parsons and Ms. Sarah Spiegel on their impending nuptuals. I have witnessed with an emotion not unlike joy the inception, cultivation, and, now, fruition of their relationship. In my less sardonic moments, I have marvelled at the couple's intimacy and emotional connectiveness. And while I am generally loathe to bandy about blithe aphorisms of love's affirmational and regenerative powers, a few drinks at the reception (re: open bar) may induce a proliferation of saccharine prose not known since Abelard wrote to Heloise. But let's hope it doesn't come to that... And so: Congratulations! Chapeau! Felicitations! Mazeltov! (Would that I had the power to change this Guestbook font from "Times New Roman" to "Wedding Caligraphy!")

Congratulations to Mr. Parons on the terrific success of his website. It seems a disparate group of music lovers has found a digital campfire around which to strum six-strings and relate nostalgic anecdotes. And let me assure the brethen (and sistren!) that Mr. Parsons is uniquely capable of keeping that fire lit for all those who seek its warmth. And speaking of the unique knowledge of Mr. Parsons, I meekly seek the answer to a question that has haunted me for at least the last five minutes: Aaron, what is that ridiculous word that means naught but "mixed metaphor?" Feel free to reply to the group or, if you so choose, call or email me directly. And fear not: I will use the knowledge you impart not for evil, but only for the good of all humankind (or at least the pretentious decile)...

I should also add, in case the general sentiment is that I don't pay attention to the posts here that:
a. I do pay attention.
b. I have added the artist names which Donna was kind enough to provide me with.
c. I am strongly considering removing the page breaks which appear in long songs, but have thus far been restrained by the fear that visits to my website will suffer because of it.
d. There are a whole lot of requests for songs which I don't know, and I'm low on time for writing up songs by groups with whom I am familiar.

The "Annie's Song" by S&G typo has been fixed. In response to the two comments about incorrect chords--some songs may be transposed into a key other than the one the original artist sang them in. This is usually to make them more singable for me, or occasionally to put the song in a key more easily playable by beginning guitarists. For example, John Denver, with his high voice, sings Annie's Song in the key of D. Aaron Parsons, with a lower voice, can sing it more easily by lowering it down to the key of C. However, the chords are all correct relative to one another. This means that if you capo your guitar up or down a few frets (in the case of Annie's Song, capo up 2) you'll be able to sing along with your favorite recording and all the chords will be spot on.

And a particular thank you for the "simplified" versions for those of us who are not guitar masters. I have two suggestions/requests for you. Both are great songs. "The Other Side Of This Life" originally by Fred Neil. The version by the Jefferson Airplane is much livelier and more fun to play. The other song is "High Flyin' Bird" by Billy Edd (yes, two "d's") Wheeler. There is a transcription of the Richie Havens version out there. But he uses open tuning. I'm looking for more of the original feel. Thanks again, - Mark

This is a wonderful site. I have just recently picked up my guitar again after many years of not playing, this site and the song selections have re-inspired me. I have forgotten how much I loved these old songs. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.

This is the greatest web site we've found! My husband only knows how to play cords--he learned guitar in the Navey during Veitnam War and was taught by the back up guitar player for the BG's during their time there! The BG's guy had music books with cords already labeled for him. His books were lost in a fire in the 80s' and he's just recently started to play again since his 4 children bought him a new Alvarez to start playing and jammin' again with his son who was inspired by his dad when he was younger and listening to his dad play. Thanks again! This was a great find and inspiration to us! We now have a grandson who he wants to play for and this helps mucho! Take care and God Bless you in everything you do!! I like this page. It's like going to someone's house and flipping through their record collection ( ok... CD collection to you folks born after 1985). No sales pitches, ads, just the music. A nice collection of songs for taking out the old guitar at a bar-b-que or a party or in the student union between classes... something for everyone from 8 to 80. Great job!

Thanks for the songs, Aaron. I was looking for "Another You" by the Seekers when I found your site and it was cool to find some other songs from that era. Interesting job you have. I am an Extra Class amateur radio operator so I actually know about SETI, HAARP and all that jazz. After reading your bio, it seems that you are a very weird person to be only 22. You should be proud. Loved the part about hickdom. It's a bit different for me. I am a Southerner but decidedly not a hick since I grew up in the city and the suburbs. I come from a long line of hicks, however so am conversant in the culture. I have a friend from Boston who used to call me a "country boy". I had to explain to her that I had never milked a cow, plucked a chicken or been intimate with a sheep. Besides, I own at least two pairs of shoes and have most of my natural teeth. What was she thinking? Peace

I googled for free lyrics and chords. Whe your site came up and the first words were "My mom", I knew I was in business. Bonanza! I think I printed off 40 songs that my parents used to play and sing around the campfire when I was a kid. No complaints, just my compliments!

From: Vern Chandler Hi Aaron!!! Enjoyed your page, glad I found it! I'm an old rocker from way back (been playing and singing since I was 7 back in 1960). I grew up with the oldies but I like a little of everything and that's what I liked most about your stuff. I'm not sure I agree on every chord translation but you're pretty damn close on most of them. They're simple and fun to play so who cares? Thanks for all your effort, see ya later... Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your lyrics and music page. My son is about your age and we are just beginning to do the music for generation thing as he is learning guitar and I am playing string bass. When we started jamming together we had to find common ground in music that we both like, and it was great to have the words and chords to so many favorites. Marilyn Alberta Canada

Thanks for providing such a wonderful site. You have built up a wonderful collection of folk songs and let others share them. Would it be possible to give some indications of suggested arpeggio or strum patterns as well as time signatures with the songs? No criticism intended its merely a suggestion. Best wishes to yourself and Sarah.

Does anyone know where I can find the lyrics and chords to a song called "Two Fat Guys in a Hudson Hornet" (No, really) by Randall Hylton. It is truly one of the funniest things I have heard. Thanks. Be nice to each other. John
