Thanks so much for a great resource for guitar players like me who become frustrated trying to play some of our favorite songs useing standard tabs and chords which are beyond our abilitites. I'm so excited that I can't wait to sit down with my guitar and start playing all the songs I've wanted to play for so long but wasn't able to because I couldn't find arrangements that I was capable of playing. You've done a great service and I really appreciate your work. One problem I did have however was the same one that Sue Shannon posted about, that is getting some of them printed onto a single page. I tried landscape on print set up by on some it still wouldn't accomodate the page. Would appreciate any suggestions in this area. Thanks so much again!

Your great site has been a joy. I have been reinventing the wheel. You've done it even better. I went to college with a bunch of ex pates. We used to sing in the Munich beer halls (54-55) just voices. The song I'm interested in Has a chorus that begins Her Mother never Told Her, The things a young girl should know. I've never seen it written nor seen it in a web site. I've been doing the song on the accordian and ukulele.3/4 time. The song is a medley of songs and melodies all tied together by the chorus. If you have any info or are interested let me know.

I thought I'd forgotten most of these songs, but I haven't. I have chords and a strum to Donna, Donna for Ricky Chan if she hasn't yet found them. I didn't know it was Joan Baez, thanks. Aaron, I have a simple letter notation for the tunes if you want to ask me about it. I sometimes need the first note at least to get the tune started in that key, when I think I know the tune but don't, really. I've been teaching my grandson guitar this year, as well as his mother/my daughter. She wants the tune to Red Rubber Ball if you could. Thanks, Dina

This is the one I was looking for. Wednesday Morning 3 a.m. Verse1 ------ C Am F Em I can hear the soft breathing of the girl that I love, C Dm G As she lies here beside me asleep with the night C Am F Em And her hair in a fine mist floats on my pillow C Dm F G C Reflecting the glow of the winter moonlight Verse2 ------ C Am F Em She is soft she is warm but my heart remains heavy, C Dm G As I watch as her breasts gently rise, gently fall. C Am F Em For I know with the first light of dawn I'll be leaving, C Dm F G C And tonight will be all I have left to recall. Verse3 ------ C Am F Em Oh what have I done, why have I done it, C Dm G I've committed a crime, I have broken the law. C Am F Em For twenty five dollars and pieces of silver, C Dm F G C I held up and robbed a hard liquor store. Verse4 ------ C Am F Em My life seems unreal, my crime an illusion, C Dm G A scene badly written in which I must play. C Am F Em And I know as I gaze at my young love beside me, C Dm F G C The morning is just a few hours away.

Thank you so much... I'm 17 and it's kind of hard to find people who like folk music. I especially appreciate the Irish Rovers/celtic stuff. Good work! Quick question: Are your songs mostly accurate to the original key as recorded? Or are they transposed to make them more singable for most people? Or just the "simplified" ones? Anyways, good work and keep it up!

Thanks for doing this. I have a collection of songs that I started collecting 35 years ago - long before internet searches for chords and lyrics made our labours much easier. I've got over 600 songs now typed in as Word docs -- and only a few hundred more of my old hand written (lift up the needle and write) pages to go.... But, of course, your page saved me some time and effort. Thanks for Sweet Sir Galahad. That's the one I was looking for when I found your page. Cheers, DLefko

In summer it is a place for odd folk like you. they raft and do fun things like hike and - and- take pictures of the squirrels. You like that wouldn't you. Unsuspecting squirrels. stop by and say hello.

Great Site!! I have been playing guitar since 1964 and started out playing folk songs. Quite a few songs here that I had forgotten. RE: Puff The Magic Dragon. The second chord (when you sing "dragon") should be the relative minor. In this case Em. Try transposing to the key of G (therefore that second chord will be Bm) and you will find a real pleasing sound. Keep up the good work!!!

Great site for folk songs and sing alongs. I stumbled across it just in time; well, i'm 61 years old and used to love singing along with Peter Paul & Mary, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, John Denver songs. Your site has lots of those... I'm getting back to guitar playing and singing those songs. So its great to have a site like yours. I also looked into your website. Hmmm. Outdoors and SETI, ha. Interesting. If ever you think of visiting the Philippines, i might be of help. Or if you're just interested in emailing and getting to know somebody from this part of the planet. By the way, aside from folksinging i also play frisbee, fly kites, twist balloons, read Brian Swimme and Thomas Berry, have a black labrador. Oh.., I'm a school teacher, semi-retired... had a chance to visit the USA and did some whitewater rafting in the Colorado river.

Hey Aaron! Your site is terrific! Your Mom sounds like a cool lady, and I have a feeling she and I are about the same age judging from the songs she has collected. So many of these songs bring back memories of summer camp (many moons ago)where I used to play lots of these folk songs for the kids. Thanks for all of your hard work! -Janice
