From: Paul Heinzman Very nice site. I am going to try to play Mr. Jones by the Counting Crows. I have been playing guitar for a while but must of my playing has been in the Jazz World maybe I can jazz up a few old folk tunes for fun. I would love to hear about your Mother and her music and how it formed in you a music heritage. I do love stories about music being passed down from generation to generation. Thanks

Thanks very much for putting up all these terrific songs with their chords, and thanks to your mother to for her sharing enthusiasm for sing along music with you. I was trying to get together songs for a New Year's Eve sing along, and you made my task so much easier with so many songs I've loved for years. Happy New Year to your family.

What an utter delight to find your site. I haven't played much in too many years. I will be teaching my grandson how to play guitar this year and many of your songs are the songs I grew up with and played way back when. I have a new set of strings and now many of the old songs to practice with. Many, many thanks for all your hard work and sharing your songs.

From: Chuck Hi, my 13 year old grandson and his dad play guitar together and so far my contribution to the fun has been to sit with the 2 girls and sing-a-long. That's great fun but I've always wanted to learn gutar and in the past few weeks I've been working hard at learning. Later we'll get the girls playing something too. Thanks for all these songs. Hello Aaron, Sarah, your new little one and your mom. It's amazing how across the years, and across the miles, never having met, I feel a deep affinity for you all. Partly it comes from visiting your website and in large part it comes from your wonderful listing of your mother's songs. I'm sure that by our song choices, we convey something important about ourselves, our history and our values. Many of the songs that you and your mother shared, are important delineations of my life also. Congratulations on election of a new, positive, insightful president... one who transcends race, petty bickering, and even nationalism. I wish him, and all of you, an abundant share of everything that is loving and positive in this world! Thanks. ... Murray

When the Weavers played "Kisses Sweeter than Wine", the last chord of the chorus (if played in C) was A7 --- not Am. This gives it a lot of punch! Pete Seeger said they adapted the tune from Leadbelly's version of some Irish song, but I don't remember which one. Great site!

Love the site. Interestingly enough, I've had it bookmarked for a couple of years and just noticed that the root is SETI@Home. I actually used to work for Dan Werthimer when I was an undergrad at Cal and helped build a photon coincidence detector for the optical SETI program. It was used at Leuschner observatory. Coincidence indeed.

Hi, I ran across your guitar/folk song page and peeked in on a few of the tunes (I've been playing 40 years or so) and I can't understand how or why some of these songs are posted that are just so incredibly wrong! case in point: "bridge over troubled water" it's not even close to being the right chords (regardless of the key) however I do respect your admiration of music and effort but in my view and opinion it can really throw off a beginner. respectfully, Mike Manning.

Otherwise, I just don't understand where you're coming from at all.

I came across your site while looking up songs to play as a volunteer at a nursing home outside of Chicago. Finding the site was a fine ending to a trying day. Your sharing makes me want to share; as my father once taught me, some favors can't be repaid directly, but you do so by doing the same in turn for someone else. Additionally, I'll be using your site to help entertain some people who are often forgotten. That seems fitting in regards to the "mom" you related. Be Well or better yet, be however you want to be!

From: Katie Thank you so much. Great. Have been searching online and elsewhere for more acurate tabs for Sweet Sir Galahad by Jon Baez which I just love. Could't believe how many sites have it wrong. Going to sing it at my Woodstock style birthday party! But couldnt till I found better tabs, so thank you. Its lovely that you've taken the time to do this. Our kids are mostly young grown ups now and they're loving all the music we loved. Well done!

What a fantastic site! I grew up with a singing/music playing family that spent a lot of time in jam sessions with each of us on a different instrument or just sitting & croonin' round the campfire. It warms my heart to see all these old songs again. I'm happy to say that we are resurrecting our old pasttime and will be sharing the fun with OUR kids this Memorial Day. I especially love that everything can be transposed. Thanks for a wonderful gift to us! I'll be checking back for more.

I was working on putting together a 'folk song ' collection mostly out of my own collection and doing some research on dates, artists, etc. when I stumbled into your GREAT collection. It is a great help even though some of the chords are not the same as the ones I play. But then it tends to differ in different parts of the country. I am in the Ozarks (MO) and have been playing and singing for about 65 years. I didn't start until I was 5. Hi, Great website!! What a walk down memory lane! Perhaps you can help me find a song: don't know the title or singer/writer!! So, it is hard to track down...heard it in the 60's: I can see the fellow singing, but can't remember who he was: "the more I travel, and the further I go, the more I learn, and the less I know...." Anyone know who that was, and the lyrics to the song? I loved it, at the time, and now, as the years have past, I'd love to be able to sing it! Thanks in advance.

Imagine my surprise to find software in operation that allowed instant transposition of the whole chart to any key. THAT deserved a bookmark and a communication to you.
